You might have seen them before, those divers gliding smoothly through the water with two tanks, one on each side. During the sidemount specialty you will learn how to dive with 2 tanks or a single tank sidemounted. This tank set up originally comes from the technical diving world, but has gained in popularity in recreational diving.
Diving with sidemount offers a wide range of benefits. You can dive longer with 2 tanks, you are more streamlined in the water and better balanced. Having a better balance is great when you are trying to take steady pictures under water. If you are more streamlined, it is easier to access wrecks or caves.
The PADI Sidemount Specialty takes 2 days and consists of theory, pool sessions and 1 day of diving with 3 dives. You will need to be at least 15 years old and have a PADI Open Water certificate to join the PADI Sidemount Specialty.
